Silver Surfer rises in comics
Three comics timed to promote new movie

The ultimate summer sequel is here. It doesn't have pirates, wizards, John McClane or that superhero guy who sticks to walls.
What it does have is a dysfunctional family of four battling a guy in a metal mask, a silver guy on a surfboard and a guy who eats planets.
It's the special FX extravaganza Fantastic Four 2: Rise of the Silver Surfer. For all of you comic book fans out there (and the non-comic-book fans who love movies), here are a few titles of interest on shelves now:
Silver Surfer: Requiem From J. Michael Straczynski and Esad Ribic (Loki, House of M) comes not only the final title to fall under the Marvel Knights banner but also, quite possibly, the final Silver Surfer story as well. Surfer has returned to Earth to see his friend, Reed Richards. It seems that pesky silver coating that protects him from the elements is slowly killing him. Oh, the irony! Will he survive? Is it time for one last adventure? Read and find out.
Ultimate Fantastic Four Originally introduced in the Ultimate Extinction miniseries, Ultimate Silver Surfer makes his "mainstream" debut in the main "ultimate" titles in this five-part story by Mike Carey (Re-Gifters, X-Men) and Pasqual Ferry. All you need to know is that Reed's brain is too big for his own good and that he accidentally pulls the surfer into our reality. Mayhem and fights ensue.
Fantastic Four The original "World's Greatest Comics Magazine" sees Marvel's first family with some new members following civil war. With Reed and Sue off to mend their relationship, Ben and Johnny are left with two new members. Enter Black Panther and Storm. Their first adventure brings them to space and the inevitable run-in with Galactus and his herald, the Silver Surfer. Thing vs. Surfer! 'Nuff said!
